I'm 26 and want to buy a house. But I have a 20k student loan I'm working on and only working 30 hours a week. I recently got back from a job overseas in which I paid off a 30k loan in 14 months.... I've been working at this job for 30 hours a week for nearly 10 months.





I will be a first time home buyer... excellent credit- do I have a shot?Will I be pre-approved for a mortgage loan given my work history?
Your employment history is not really the issue. Banks look at a lot of things. Your credit rating is very important and your debt to income ratio are very important. If you have stable income that will support all of your monthly payments, then you should have a reasonable shot at getting some sort of loan. If you have enough saved for a down payment, that will help you out dramatically.
